چکیده
Antibiotic treatment and arthroscopic or open drainage is the gold standard for septic arthritis. Full recovery takes time after surgery hospital stay longer than arthrocentesis at bedside. We aimed to evaluate effectiveness of (medical approach) versus a surgical approach. retrospectively included 97 cases native joint arthritis (hip knee) between 2010 2017. The primary outcome was failure medical approaches (defined as intervention within 7 days following diagnosis). Risk factors were identified by univariable multivariable logistic regression. 72 knee arthritis, which 43 29 treated medically surgically, respectively; 25 hip 8 17 respectively. Failure observed in 39.2% group 30.4% (P = 0.2) (37.5% vs. 52.9% 39.5% 17.2% knee, respectively). univariate analysis age male sex risk 0.048 P 0.02, respectively), but only independently associated with 0.04). Hospital length 12 shorter (21 33 days, 0.02), sequelae less frequent important (31.7% 60%). seems be effective better functional outcome. Further prospective studies are warranted.

Two-stage Total Knee Arthroplasty for Treatment of Surgical Failure of Septic Arthritis in Degenerative Knee Joints
Background: The ultimate goal of the treatment of infectious knee arthritis is to protect the articular cartilage fromadverse effects of infection. Treatment, however, is not always hundred percent successful and has a 12% failurerate. Persistent infection is more likely to happen in elderly patients and those with underlying joint diseases, particularly osteoarthritis. Eradica...
متن کاملSurgical Procedures Needed to Eradicate Infection in Knee Septic Arthritis.
Septic arthritis of the knee is encountered on a regular basis by orthopedists and nonorthopedists. No established therapeutic algorithm exists for septic arthritis of the knee, and there is much variability in management. This study assessed the number of surgical procedures, arthroscopic or open, required to eradicate infection. The study was a retrospective analysis of 79 patients who were t...
متن کاملMedical vs surgical treatment for the native joint in septic arthritis: a 6-year, single UK academic centre experience.
OBJECTIVE Medical treatment (serial closed-needle aspiration) and surgical treatment (arthroscopy/arthrotomy combined with joint washout) are well-recognized methods to treat septic arthritis (SA) of native joints. We compared the outcome of proven SA based on the method of treatment. METHODS We reviewed case notes of adult patients who were admitted to our institution from January 2001 to De...

The purpose of this study was to determine mortality rate, adverse joint outcome and prognostic factors in adult patients diagnosed with septic arthritis of the knee who had undergone debridement surgery. Mate...
